I deleted the app, but now I read the NYT with safari browser with my digital subscription. The idiotic, repetitive, crappy google ads on the NYT app were idiotic, repetitive and crappy.

Each day I get unlogged by ny times. And I can’t log in!!! It asks me to log in, and I do it, and then it does nothing. Infuriating! I have to call apple I guess as NY Times says not their problem. I’ve read my 10 articles now and am locked out.
Started using The Guardian app a lot more instead as it allows full use of split screen on newer iPads. Also needs to use the page better in landscape mode. Too much white space left.
I love the NY Times and the app is very good but why cant it return me to where I left off. Its frustrating to have to keep navigating back to where I was every time?
I am happy with most aspects of this app. But if you are in the middle of reading an article when your iPad goes to sleep, when you get back into the app - at least with the autorefresh function enabled that connects for new article content - you are immediately taken to the main page. Sometimes it is very difficult to find the article you were reading to finish it, especially if it is not the same day. Come on, NYT, we dont bookmark everything as we get to it "just in case"! This needs a pref setting to "stay on article" even with refresh enabled.
I would normally understand that providing iPad Pro support would take some time, buy almost 6 months later I was told that this is a not a priority nor a bug and to not expect a new release to address the bigger-sized iPad Pro screen layout anytime soon. Sad to learn that this is the prevailing attitude from the team that manages this application.
Crashes constantly. Dont bother trying to use an Interactive Feature. Totally guaranteed to crash and close the app. Is this really the best the NYT can do??
The app is good in that it doesnt have bugs or crash. I dont like to use it because it tracks your "hits" to the point that it obsessively pushes the same content over and over, and filters out what it thinks you dont want. I am a news junkie and PR professional. I have been a print and online subscriber for years and have been known to say that I would rather eat beans and rice than give up my Times subscription. But even when I dont click through an article I want to see the headlines and scan for news of the day. This app doesnt let you do that, so I go through the web rather than get encumbered with this colossus.
Love the paper and love the app, but the most recent "upgrade" forces pre-fixed pages that are quite annoying. Previously, one could easily scroll through an article, just as you can with a print edition. Now, one has to meticulously flip precisely to avoid getting into the no-persons land of slipping back or jumping too soon. PLEASE go back to the old method.
It’s been months and months since the 12” iPad Pro was released. The NYT in sad, zoomed in mode on the big iPad is really a shame. When will this be fixed??!?
Very good app, and good content. I appreciate that there seem to be frequent updates and attempts made at continued improvement. The one feature I think is sorely missing is the ability to read articles in night mode, with white text on a black background. This seems to be a standard feature in most iPad reading apps now, and I hope the NYT app catches up soon. I find it a much less straining way to read for long periods of time.
Very upset this app no longer works. I even deleted and redownloaded. It just goes black and quit. Of course this happened after o became a subscriber.
Its beginning to drive me nuts, mens underwear pictured/ advertised with every article I read, and I am a woman....this is absurd commercialism, every article ,every day, like a bad dream.
I believe the NYTimes app the best thought out and executed newspaper app, and a terrific app in general. It is ridiculously easy to navigate, browse, and search. The interactive features go beyond video. For example, interactive images, maps, tables of data and more. The layout of the article text is easy on the eyes.
I love this app. You can check it multiple times a day and get updates on breaking news, plus there are great slideshows and multimedia features. I enjoy reading the (mostly) thoughtful comments on controversial articles. The best are the hyperlinks embedded in the articles that allow you to read other sources or referenced articles. I love it. No paper to get rid of, either.
As always, the NYT is fustest with the mostest. Kentucky racing talk for fastest with the most.
Easy to use and get to the content you like the most. Multi-media is usually very well done. One contrast is that you are less likely to be favorably surprised at coming across an article in a section of the physical paper that you may not read online.
When I bought the iPad Pro biggie model, I was dreaming of reading the NYTimes in all its glory at the breakfast table. Well I can, but its in giant fuzzy font, stretched from 9.7" to 12.9". The iPad Pro has been out for seven months, youd think that the developers that made the near perfect NYTimes app would be able to support a new screen size easily in a seventh of that time.
Easy to use. Great up to date news. I love it. I can save articles for reading or printing without problems.
Dear NY Times, the iPad Pro has been on the market for 6 months now. How about updating the app for native support? The Economist supported the device almost immediately. And while youre at it, can you please reduce the size and frequency of the ads? Theyre bordering on obnoxious.
