App doesnt work since last update

Trying to install the last update for weeks and it never finishes downloading so the entire app no longer works and when I tried to uninstall the whole app it shows up as partially installed so I cant reinstall it. App is now useless.

Very very good

I use this app to practice my English. Thats perfect if used along with a translator. ...and you will always be informed on what is going on in the world. Too expensive the full version....

Absolutely the best

The best existing app for newspapers! All the other should learn.

unottima app

best app for newspapers. well designed and well tested.

App stopped Working

1. I pay for a subscription to the NYT for over 3 years which I consider expensive, but have been pleased with the news coverage. 2. Recently on my IPad Pro, the app stopped updating the news coverage. I reset my IPad, closed and opened the app, and tried to manually update he app with no success. 3. I deleted the app and downloaded it again 3 times. Each time I get a blank page and the app only shows the saved article section in the edit screen. The add more sections doesnt work. I filed an app problem report, but have received no help from their tech support section. At this point I am extremely upset and would not recommend this app to anyone. If I could rate it at less than 1 star, I would.

Audio ads that play without a way to stop them???

OK, this morning I was reading and an ad came out of my iPads speakers. There was no way to silence it except close the app. TOTALLY unacceptable for a service for which I pay more than $100/month!!!

Enough with the animated gifs

Enough with the animated gifs already. They are a huge distraction and add nothing to the content. Focus your attention elsewhere!

Buggy

Halfway through reading an article the scroll feature jumps to the end of the article. You scroll back up searching for where you left off only to have the same thing happen again. Complaints to customer service elicits "were working on it" (X8mo. now). This doesnt happen when browsing other "free" new sources, and were paying $200 annual subscription fees to the NYT? Maybe support could contract with a rival news app to provide a fix. Great news source, lousy app. Cancelled my subscription today.

Needs some improvements

The NYT itself is great and the app is OK. But it should be better. Wheres the iPad Pro keyboard support? And theres an annoying tendency for articles to scroll to the bottom if I rest my thumb too close to the edge of the screen. There has to be a way to filter that out!

Needs iPad Pro resolution support

Its been over a year. Come on! Will update rating after support is added.

Still no 12” iPad Pro Support?!?!

It’s been months and months since the 12” iPad Pro was released. The NYT in sad, zoomed in mode on the big iPad is really a shame. When will this be fixed??!? (I last posted this in April, and now its September - a year almost since iPad Pro was released - still nothing from the NYT. Sad!)

Love the app, except for one annoyance

I love reading the Times on my iPad. Its convenient, easy to navigate and looks good on the screen. My one annoyance is the sudden scroll to the bottom if I rest my finger too long on the bottom of the screen. Is there some reason for this? My Houston Chronicle app doesnt do this, so I know its a Times thing, not an iPad thing. I notice that others have complained about it, too. If its a bug you cant fix, maybe you could ask the Chronicle how to do it. Doris Sing

Update for iPad Pro 12.9"

I enjoy reading the Times, but the zoomed view on my iPad Pro 12.9" is getting old. Please correct this issue, and make reading enjoyable on all Apple devices!

WORST CANCELLATION PROCESS EVER

I love journalism, but when my budget got tight I needed to cancel my paid subscription. They provided no way to do this on their web site, you have to talk to a customer service representative, they want to conduct a series of in depth questions and then put you on hold for many minutes. Given that the Washington Post lets you cancel with ONE BUTTON, and many other web sites will let you cancel with an email, this whole process just stinks of being a consumer scam. When my budget allows me to get paid digital content again, I will not be turning to the New York Times.

If I pay, why are there audio ads?

If I pay for a subscription, there should be no audio ads. Especially ones that fail to be silenced by the mute button. Unacceptable.

Stop ads that move

I would like the app to look like the newspaper. That boat has sailed. Just had a terribly annoying Intel ad that constantly tried get your attention by moving side to side. I accept ads, but not ads that distract from reading the paper. A thumbs down for Intel and their Ad Agency, two thumbs down for NYT accepting the ad. I guess that is why I subscribe to the paper copy.

Could be better

Does the app not have the print version of todays paper as an option? Instead I have to go to the mobile website to view it

Awesome

Well done. Easy to use. Love it!

Great Paper; Terrible Programming

The NY Times is a superior newspaper and I love reading it. However, it is a shame that their programmers are either incompetent or inebriated. Their November 2013 update damaged the manual refresh function. Now you have to close the App completely after refreshing because it says it updated, but did not. The September 2013 update caused flaws that remain unresolved. 1. If you are reading in a section, the App loses its place and returns to the top of the section. 2. If you close the App into the background, it re-opens to the front page and you lose your place. 3. The manual refresh button should be restored. Removing it first slowed down the refresh and now does not work properly, as mentioned above. It is a shame that such a great paper has such poor programming. Update: Here we are in September 2016. The paper remains the best. And the App continues to crash as mentioned above. Why does such a great paper tolerate such poor programming?

NYTimes app works well

All the news without the ads… or a few ads. Like with the newspaper, I never have enough time to read everything. Havent had any issues with the app.
