If the International Herald Tribune is a part of the New York Times, why cant the New York Times make an app that is on par with the IHT? This NYT app is pitiful...

The new version of this app refreshes articles every time even though I have it set not to and shows my saved folder as being empty, even though I have articles saved and can see them on devices with the old version of the app (and new articles wont save either). Id recommend waiting to download till they fix this stuff.

Much cleaner looking now, with a mix of traditional and modern newspaper feel.

What?!?! Only ten articles a month now?! Thats cheap!! Please go back to three articles a day and my rating will go up.

Thoroughly enjoying this, not an ounce of buyers regret.

Love the app and the journalism

I have been an annual subscriber for almost three years and am working on some puzzles for the second time. I am confined to home for the most part due to illness. While I enjoy the app, I do have a couple of suggestions for improvement. The app fails to keep my place, often requiring me to find the puzzle I was just working on again. I am annoyed by the pop-up ads inviting me to buy "packs" of puzzles that I already have access to. Surely these could be filtered or turned off by the subscriber.

Newest version of app is very unstable and crashes constantly. Needs an immediate fix.

Apologies. I wrote the previous negative review. After I deleted my version of the app. then downloaded a fresh version, everything is back to normal.

Update to my review below. Tired of app crashes. Three times in the past few minutes. The strange thing is the app is wonky for a few days, then its pretty much crash proof, and then it starts crashing again. Im starting to believe that this has something to do with the content on that particular day. Or perhaps the display ads. Something somewhere is buggy. ********* After working fine for months, this app crashes...about 10 seconds after I open it. Every time. It was fine this morning. Now its unusable. I have done an iPad reset. I reinstalled the application. Nothing helps. I see that I am one of many people complaining about this problem, especially since the beginning of November. Am I expected to continue to pay a monthly subscription fee for an app that is unusable???

National geographic is 20$ per YEAR. 20$ a month for access to the ipad app is driving customers away, especially when other big services like Netflix have sub 10$ months fees. The price should be 10 ...Id even consider 15$...but not 20. Youre encouraging people to get around the paywall in the browser.

Would get five stars if saved articles synched across laptop, iPad and blackberry, and if I could read comments on mobile apps. As it is, you can read but not lots else.

From the day the iPad was introduced, the NYT app has been the gold standard for tablet newspapers. What amazes me is that other papers havent copied the formula. If you want a news site with lots of bells and whistles that actually detract from the experience, go elsewhere. The Times has figured it out, and each new version subtly improves on the one before.

Excellent content. Inspiring. Great design with continual improvements. A model for what a “newspaper” app can be. (The only issue I have with this is Apple’s insistence in burying these apps, which represent some of the absolute best stuff on my iPad, in the opaque Newsstand folder. However, I much prefer the app to web-based alternatives from the NYT.)

After about a month of subscribing, I can say the layout and organization makes the NYT easy to read, & an enjoyable paperless experience. No crashes yet, and no drowning in ads.

I subscribed - app refuses to recognize that the subscription is paid.

This app kept crashing, so I updated iOS and the app. Now it keeps asking me to update the app. When download completes, it asks me to update again. An infinite loop! I have rebooted.
