Very buggy

I used this app for over a year with the occassional crash from time to time. In the last two days since a recent update it has become incredibly unstable, crashing every 30-40 seconds. Ive tried resetting the ipad, closing other apps and finally a restore to factory settings followed by restoration from a saved copy and it still has the same problem. It is getting very frustrating - especially given the number of review that mention instability problems. I love the NY Times, but this app is incredibly frustrating.

Constant Crashing

Dear NYT devs, i hate to pile on what you already know is taking place, but seeing that were paying what I would consider a handsome monthly fee - especially in app price speak (your price vs quasi free for many other apps), pls get this resolved. I can barely read on article at a time. The app is unusable @ current. And I do pray your devs have power. Sincerely.

Paying for ads

Some good content and simple layout, but the advertisements rob a lot of space and are an annoying distraction. For $20 a month, I want the ability to turn the ads off.

There are many better news apps, including ones that dont even NAG for a subscription. Imagine. Time to delete this app. Bye

Crashy

Continues to crash so often as to be unusable. Ive tried uninstalling and re-installing, followed by a hard reset of the iPad, which worked for a while, then it returned to its crashy self. Very frustrating, particularly given what Im paying for my Times subscription. I have not had any other app that is as fragile as this. Please fix it. -------- Crashyness continues - and seems to have got worse. I never - never - get through a single session. I am prevented from giving this no stars, so have to settle for one.

Crash buggy

I have a monthly subscription and use this app on a first generation iPad. Version 2.5.3 crashes every few minutes. Unbelievable. Ive tried deleting and reinstalling the app. I tried wiping my iPad and restoring from a backup. No change. Stay away until they fix it

App closes/fails repeatedly

Since last upgrade this app crashes frequently. It is no longer possible to read a whole article without the app crashing once or twice. Really poor performance for an app for subscribers who are paying for content. Fix this app asap New York Times.

Its repetitive

I live in Canada and have always wished I could have the Times delivered ...so when this app came along was very excited. Have to say for what I am paying, I am disappointed. The news is repeated, features I saw last week are back up today....I guess I expected more from the Times.

Wonderful!

Its a wonderful app with terrific features. Does not crash for me. Far superior to the Globe and Mail in Canada.

Appalling service.

An attractive presentation and worthwhile source material are ally well and good, but Apple and the NYTs download system is borderline worthless. If I had a dollar for every time "refresh" failed, I would be able to subscribe to the NYT for life and never pay a dime. This app, consequently, is worthless, and whoever wrote the code for the download portion of the app needs to be reassigned. Not just a disgrace but borderline criminal. After struggling with this app for the better part of 3 months, I shall not be renewing.

Dont bother

You only have access to the NYT "top stories". You have to pay for full access to the paper. If you view the NYT website using a web browser you have full access to the site and you dont have to pay anything.

Constantly crashing

Since the last update this app is unusable - constantly freezing and crashing. Quite frustrating as it use to work so well!

Disappointing, Uninnovative

This app provides a worse experience than the website itself.

Terrible service not able to access account because nyt app and iTunes two separate entities

Downloaded app and paid for one month subscription through iTunes account as per the only choice given you. When I couldnt access the digital paper I emailed and called nyt number listed as app support number but they had no record of payment and said iTunes is third party provider and the numbers are not correct as it was not their problem and deal with iTunes. iTunes has never answered my numerous emails to them so I am out the $20 and the only solution nyt offers is to try again but pay them direct but supposedly still access the app I think if they offer the app and their number and email as support resources they could take more responsibility for the product. Buyer beware.

Ugly

My favourite news app now a disaster. Looks like reading a web page and navigation is terrible.

A significant backward step

Prior to its latest version, the NY Times iPad app was the best designed news app, period. It had a highly logical user experience that was as much a part of my news experience as the actual writing itself. Sadly, the iOS7 release is a serious backward step. A ragged look, much less intuitive navigation, and the sense that Im getting less content. NY Times is an expensive subscription which I used to be happy to pay. This latest release has me seriously considering canceling it.

Subscription cancelled

Horrendous app now....terrible in every possible way....subscription cancelled...enough said!

Big step back

Much worse, both aesthetically and functionally, than previous version. All is lost in mush.
